Meeting Notes 9/27/2024
Fran Kremer, Jim Goodrich, Sudhir K, Jacob S
Region 5 is well tied into this kind of work.
They were planning to work with 5 originally bc they have so much GIS data. On pause.
Region 3?
Hi prio rivers for Region 5?
A lot of information in the CWA slides Fran showed us
Ask if we can get a copy of that slide deck?
Streamstats + IC Waters vs Streamstats + the RSMS model
They seemed interested in collaborating
Streamstats is already national, could help support the national aspirations
CLoud based API (easier to connect to )
Even though OH River is mostly Region 4, could be interesting to Region 5 folks just because of the big spills/leaks that have been happening (styrene most recently)
FY 25 for Jim
FY 26 for Fran
No funds before then...
Region 5 is doing all their GIS work internally, so they don't need the funding for it.
Maybe they can raise to CESER management? ORD/security folks don't care.
Work with DoD in developing tool to find applicability for their needs?
Same for USACE? They might not have funding, but could be a good partner.
Navy? They have a lot of "AST"s.
A call with Faith & Peter (USGS) would be helpful.
NOAA - Coastal impacts. Surges going upstream.
Fran will send a note to her Region 3 contact (working with IC Water), cc Jim, to bring them into the conversation. Will set up a call. Both the people she has been contacting (philly) and the folks we worked with (i.e. DRBC).
Our DRBC work is relevant. Where the River model runs into DRBC's 3D estuary model.
That was with Region 3.
Look into utilities, like AM Water. Different MOUs with various orgs,
Just have to find the right people
To sudhir only
Can there be any funding from lawsuits against Spill people? The train company, or chemical * transporters that leak, etc.
The company that just brought down the baltimore bridge? (probably unrelated, but I don't know how any of this stuff fits together....)
