Update Meeting with ORSANCO 10/6/2023

Meeting Notes

1. ORSANCO wants a malleable database solution as the databases will change over time. We pointed out the Postgres Database with the Microsoft Stack is a very flexible solution. and will likely be a good fit.
2. They may write some custom scripts in R as younger employees have experience with R. They use the Data Camp to get up to speed in R it is an online training tool. They use R for Visualization
   1. This is supported by Power BI.
   2. Add to Django?
3. The reason for some of the Queries feeding into other queries is that they need calculations done. These will need to be reworked into things like views as you cannot just use query results as a table in most databases like you can apparently in Access. They are calling these stacked Queries.
4. This stacked queries can be seen in Queries that are named things like Step 1, 2, final ... - Metrics (not sure what this is about)
5. They do not know where Nathans Laptop is so we will likely not get access to it.
6. Getting the database to print out something in WQX format is a med/high priority as a single entry in something like fish can require a lot of entries in WQX. They do not want to store things in WQX format as they want the database to be easy and easy to update but they do have to write out reports in the WQX format and the easier that is for them the better. So some kind of selected entries to WQX format would be something they might like.

Next Steps

1. They were surprised by the fact that We do not have Admin Access for all the databases. This causes some issues when running VBA code but for the most part Melissa has found workarounds. They would like to know which ones are having the issues to see if they can give us a new copy.
2. Melissa needs to send out the names of the linked databases that we do not have. They are All Compiled Habitat Data.mdb, IL Bug Database.accdb and SQL Server from the SERVER=OLDSPARKY\SQL2000 on NATHANLAPTOP the database is called CleanMetalsSQL.
3. They are going to send us an excel sheet that has the calculations that are used for the Fish database and possibly some others. The Excel will be password protected by edit.
