Notes

  • CLEWA is interested in the Lead Service Line detection.
  • Some money has come in to replace lines, not replace and detect.
  • If we get some good results, then technically more funding opportunities will arise.
  • They gave us < 1 year to finish this (6/24/24-ish). Want to move aggressively, sooner we finish, the more opportunities we'll have to go to other ____.
  • Software approach to generating ELF. Prototype used some off the shelf ocmponents like RPI for generating audio signal and a hat (audio) for analyzing received signal. Also audio amplifier.
  • Any ultrasonic expertise from Davorin’s side? No, mostly electromagnetic.
  • Can you get material density from ultrasonic or electromagnetic sensors, pipes underground?
  • Some of their expertise in soil conductivity may come in handy. Phase shift depends on all these other parameters (for both ultrasonic and electromagnetic), detecting existing env conditions to then analyze data better. More meta data is always useful.
  • What would his engagement be? University contract? Their group recently founded a startup company. IMSYS (Intelligent Magnetic Systems).
  • Timeline? Hand construction, using machines in labs. Get a sense for cost.
  • Mechanics is likely the most expensive part, especially if something larger. Size, location, stability, etc.
