NetSTORM Functionality
According to the NetSTORM Documentation the functionality for this program is as follows:
- Precipitation intensity
- Synthetic disaggregation of hourly and higher frequency time series
- Adaptation of STORM methodology to systems of linked control structures
- Import and export of US meteorological data in National Climatic Data Center (NCDC) and plain text formats
NetSTORM and Chama
Possible uses for NetSTORM
There are 2 possible uses for NetSTORM that would be useful in Chama.
- Import and convert US meteorological data into the correct format for a rainfall.dat file.
- Using a local station and daily rainfall data to desegregate the data into hourly rainfall data.
Rainfall formats
The format used in rainfall.dat files is:
Gage YYYY MM DD HH MM Value
This is one of the 2 formats that NetSTORM writes.
NetSTORM can convert several formats into this format.
- NCDC format for hourly precipitation data (TD-3240) from HydroData
- NCDC daily data format (TD-3200) from HydroData
- NetSTORM can also read formats distributed by NCDC both hourly and Daily formats.
